A Tale of Two Citizens
The internet.
It’s the best of things.
It’s the worst of things.
It puts a heretofore unimaginable collection of knowledge at our fingertips.
It puts a heretofore unimaginable collection of lies at our fingertips.
It lets us access libraries, art collections, facts obscure and obvious, fiction, histories, how to spell sherbet, definitions of words, translations of phrases.
It lets us access the inane, moronic, and disgusting thoughts of every human with internet access seeking the confirming high of being liked.
It’s the ridiculous joyride of knowledge the human race has amassed since we started putting stone to tablet.
It’s the trolling rollercoaster of depravity humans have amassed since we started putting smartpens to tablet.
It makes things easier.
It makes things harder.
It makes life better.
It makes life worse.
It’s a great leap forward.
It’s a great leap foregone.
It’s amazing.
It’s terrifying.
It’s what will save us.
It’s what will destroy us.
It’s what we do.
It’s what will do us in.
It’s the best of us.
It’s the worst of us.
It’s all these things.
It’s everything we are.
